Sarawak’s 1Malaysia Clinic will be launched in Teku, near here, on Sunday.
Sibu Division medical officer Dr Mohd Rais Abdullah told reporters that various programmes would be held in conjunction with the launch, including free health screening.
He said the clinic, which would be operational from Monday to Friday, would provide services such as follow-ups for chronic cases like diabetes and hypertension as well as the usual outpatient treatment.
A special child health clinic would be held every Thursday, he added.
“Depending on the demand, we may expand the scope of services in the near future,” he said, adding that the clinic would serve the people in areas such as Taman Indah, Kampung Bahagia Jaya, Sungai Merah, Oya and Ling Kai Cheng Roads and from a sizeable number of longhouses.
He said that besides Sibu, the clinic would also be set up in Kuching, Miri and Bintulu.
Environment and Public Health Minister Datuk Sri Wong Soon Koh is scheduled launch the clinic.
